UPDATE: Police investigate California mall shooting, gunshot victim transported with non-life-threatening injuries – Southern Maryland News Net

UPDATE: On October 18, 2022, at 12:47 p.m., Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 22500 block of MacArthur Boulevard in California, for the reported shootings at a business.

Deputies arrived on the scene in less than two minutes and located two businesses hit by projectiles.

The surrounding businesses and establishments were checked, and no victims were located on the scene.

A perimeter was established and detectives and crime lab personnel from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and continued the investigation.

At 1:12 p.m., emergency communications received a report of a gunshot victim in the 46300 block of Columbus Drive in Lexington Park. Deputies responded and located a male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

10/18/2022: On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at approximately 12:45 p.m., police responded to the Patuxent Crossing Shopping Center (San Souci Plaza) located on MacArthur Boulevard in California, to reports of gunfire in the area.

Police arrived at the scene to find businesses damaged by gunfire.

Some businesses in the area have taken shelter while the investigation continues. Police are asking everyone to avoid the area.

Shortly after, at 1:13 p.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the 46000 block of Columbus Drive in Lexington Park, for the reported gunshot victim.

Crews arrived at the scene to find an 18-year-old man with a single gunshot wound to the lower body.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
