MARION, NC (WSPA) – A man has been left dead following an altercation at a Marion mall, according to the Marion Police Department.
Officers responded to the Grandview Station shopping center on Sugar Hill Road in reference to a stabbing. Officers said they found Alfredo Guardian Magana, 45, “seriously injured”.
McDowell County EMS began rescue measures on Magana, however, efforts were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.
The Marion Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation have opened a homicide investigation.
Officers said two vehicles carrying about nine people in total met in the parking lot of the mall, where several people got out of a Ford pickup truck, including Magana, and confronted the people in a Chevrolet pickup truck.
Magana and the others reportedly began yelling and banging on the Chevrolet, with 38-year-old Salvador Romero Magana inside.
According to officers, Salvador Magana brandished a large knife and, while sitting in his truck, began stabbing Alfredo Magana.
Salvador Magana reportedly fled the scene and ran over Alfredo Magana with his vehicle.
Officers are still looking for Salvador, who has warrants for second-degree murder.
If anyone comes into contact with Salvador, he is asked to call 911, the Marion Police Department at 828-652-400 or his local law enforcement agency.
Officers said Salvador should not be approached.
