Camden, New Jersey – Camden County District Attorney Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez announce an arrest in connection with a weekend homicide at a Camden shopping center.

The US Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended 28-year-old Shakeem Cook of Camden, NJ on February 16, 2022 at approximately 10:40 p.m. He was charged with first degree murder and weapons offenses in the death of 31 years. Kadeem McBride from Sicklerville, NJ

On February 13, 2022 at approximately 3:54 p.m., officers responded to the 2700 block of Mount Ephraim Avenue for a ShotSpotter activation which led to the discovery of the victim in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead a few hours later at Cooper Hospital.

Cook was treated for the above charges and remanded to Camden County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing in court.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty by a court.
