More than a dozen Winston-Salem Police Department officers rushed to the mall’s food court entrance shortly after 2 p.m.

Officials said one person was shot but did not sustain life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

A Hot Topic employee told Journal Now the shooting happened near a kiosk outside the store.

The worker told the outlet there was a bullet hole in the front of the store.

The WSPD assured residents and visitors to the mall that there was no active shooter threat in the area.

According to WXII 12, an announcement was made over the mall’s intercom warning of the shooting.

Cops said it was still an active scene with officers sweeping the mall.

One person is also in custody, according to Spectrum News. journalist.
