Goodwill to reopen Pittsfield flagship store at Allendale Shopping Center / iBerkshires.com

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires and southern Vermont will hold a grand reopening of its flagship store on Saturday, July 16 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 5 Cheshire Rd. in the Allendale Mall.

Goodwill’s current store in Pittsfield, located at 457 Dalton Ave, will close next week. The nonprofit’s retail store and donation center in Allendale is more than double the size of the previous store, which opened in 2013.

Retail space was increased from 2,000 square feet to 9,500 square feet in the new store, and the back room, where donations are processed for sale, was increased from 800 square feet to 9,500 square feet. The new store also offers customers large changing rooms, LED lighting, background music and an increased amount of goods and services.

The public is invited to attend the opening events, which will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m.; a remote talent show on Live 95.9 (WBEC-FM) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a BBQ food truck by Smokey Divas from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a step dance show by Youth Alive at 11:30 a.m. be called and performed once an hour, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., the first 650 customers to purchase merchandise from the new Goodwill store will receive a $5 voucher for the purchase of lunch at the Smokey Divas food truck, thanks to donations from Canna Provisions, based in Lee, and an anonymous donor.

Roberta McCulloch-Dews, Director of Administrative Services in the Mayor’s Office and Public Information Officer for the City of Pittsfield, will represent the Mayor’s office at the grand opening.

According to project manager Maryam Kamangar, the additional processing space will increase the production capacity of the organization, allowing employees to bring more goods from the donation area to the sales floor within 24 hours. following receipt of donated items selected for sale.

Goodwill has hired six new employees to work at its Allendale site and plans to add six supported employees from the Developmental Services Department, as well as a supervisor and two job coaches, as part of its Mission Services program. .
