A woman driving in Lakewood started a fire, hit a United States Postal Service van and overturned it.
The wreckage occurred around 11:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Avenue Gaston and Avenue Paulus, the USPS staff member told the site.
Air bags deployed in the mail van and the postman, who was able to exit the vehicle through the rear doors, was taken to hospital. All mail has been removed from the van.
The front of the red sedan involved in the wreckage was damaged, but the car could still drive, so someone moved it off the road. The woman who was driving the car when the accident happened was not at the scene when the Lawyer come.
Dallas Fire-Rescue and the Dallas Police Department came to help. A policeman helped direct traffic as the tow truck picked up the mail van.
Damage to the passenger side and rear of the mail van was visible once it was returned to its wheels. There was also liquid that had leaked from the van onto the road.
The officer had left and the mail van was recovered about an hour after the sinking.
