Davidson County Sheriff’s Office seeks suspect in Tyro Mall death

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a murder suspect in connection with a shooting death where the victim was found in a mall parking lot in Tyro.

According to law enforcement, at 12:36 p.m. on September 18, Davidson County Emergency Communications received a 911 call regarding a shooting that occurred at a residence on Oakdale Lane in Tyro.

As Davidson County Sheriff’s Office deputies and other emergency services personnel responded to the scene, two victims were discovered to have been removed from the residence and transported to the mall parking lot. West Davidson Village located at 4705 S. Highway 150.

Upon arrival at the mall, officers discovered a man and woman with apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency services personnel attempted to perform lifesaving measures on the male victim, but he died at the scene. He has been identified as Tyler Burgwyn Brady, 28, of Gold Hill.

The second victim, an unidentified 29-year-old woman, was transported to Atrium Health Baptist Health Medical Center in Winston-Salem where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

After an investigation, detectives determined that the suspected shooter was the resident of the home where the incident occurred, who had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. He had been identified as Curtis Lee Wall, 40, of Tyro.

Detectives from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division obtained a warrant for Wall’s arrest and charged him with first degree murder.

Law enforcement continues to investigate the shooting.
