Dallas Firefighters battle fire at mall near White Rock Lake – CBS Dallas/Fort Worth

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas firefighters are battling a fire at a shopping center near White Rock Lake.

The call arrived just before 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 in the 9000 block of Garland Road near Loop 12 Buckner Boulevard.

When firefighters arrived at the one-story commercial structure, they observed smoke and fire coming from behind the Humble Pie location.

They made their way to the rear of the building, where they located a fire behind and extending into the business. Using handlines, firefighters entered the interior and extinguished the flames within an hour.

There were two people inside the business when the fire broke out.

Investigators say one of them discovered the fire behind the business and called 911 before he went inside. leaving behind severe damage to part of the kitchen and extensive smoke damage to the rest of the business including the dining/retail area.

In addition to the original location, a nearby business also suffered minor exterior damage from the fire; but nothing that should force them to close their doors to business.

Thick black smoke was visible for miles around.
