A man shot dead in the Dunia Plaza shopping center in Victorville

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a man at the Dunia Plaza mall in Victorville.

Jeremy Franks, 23, of Apple Valley, suspected of fatally shooting Brock Moore, 22, of Tehachapi, has been arrested, sheriff’s officials reported.

At 2:54 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a report of an assault with a gun in the Bear Valley Road and Mall Boulevard area west of Interstate 15.

The area is close to Restaurant Row and the Lowe’s Home Improvement Center.

Upon arrival, deputies found the victim, later identified as Moore, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.

Moore received medical help and was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to sheriff’s officials.

Suspect arrested

The suspect, later identified as Franks, fled. With the help of the California Highway Patrol, Franks was located in Barstow and taken into custody.

Franks was booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, with no bail amount set. He is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on Wednesday, according to booking records.

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Specialty Investigations Division – Homicide Detail are leading the investigation. At this time, it seems that the incident started because of road rage.
